High-Rises

While Boston does not have as many residential high-rise buildings like New York or Chicago, there is a still a fair selection of Boston Homes in High-rise buildings. Boston High-rises encompass much of the luxury homes available in Boston. High-rises have many units; usually over 20 and sometimes up to 300 or 400 units, this became possible with the invention of the elevator and cheaper more abundant building materials such as steel and glass. For buildings to classify as a High-rise, they need to be between 75 to 491 feet, taller buildings are considered Skyscrapers. Massachusetts general laws define a high-rise as being higher than 70 feet. High-rise living in Boston tend to be between $100 to $200 a month more expensive than similar sized Boston homes in other types of housing due to the amenities they provide. High-rise complexes usually offer a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three bedroom homes.
