This style of building can be seen in most of the cities along the East Coast of the United State. Boston Brownstones are also referred to as a ‘rowhouses’ because developers often built a number of identical-looking brownstone units next to each other generally between three to five stories tall. Boston retains many glorious brownstones especially in the South End, the South End holds the distinction of being the United States’ largest Victorian landmark. Walking down older streets of the city; one can easily recognize Brownstones with their distinct bowing of the buildings with the red or brown brick they consist of. |
For the most part Boston homes located in Brownstone buildings are generally older than other types of housing the city offers, though many of them have been fully rehabbed in the 1990s and the turn of the millennium offering all the modern amenities of apartment complexes and High-rises such as laundry facilities, internet ready, central air-conditioning handicap access and dishwashers. Brownstone homes are always in high demand because many Boston residents wish to capture some of the history the city offers with these properties.

Over time due to re-urbanization and students, these Brownstones have been split into multiple rental or condominium units, though a good amount remains as single-family homes. Boston Brownstones usually offer a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom and few four-bedrooms homes.
The most prominent neighborhoods offering Boston homes in Brownstone Properties are the South End, Back Bay Bay Village, Beacon Hill, South Boston, Charlestown and parts of Fenway.
