Events and Meetings in February

Posted by Homes Boston on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 at 4:34pm.

Dear Back Bay Association Member:

There are three dates of upcoming meetings and events that I wanted to make sure  you are aware of in February.

  • The Friends of Copley Square, a non-profit organization that provides funding to assist the City of Boston with the preservation, maintenance, and beautification of the Copley Square, invites you to the second annual Mardi Gras Celebration on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held at The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. Tickets are $300 per couple, which includes two tickets to the event, as well as accommodations on February 17 donated by The Copley Square Hotel, The Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel and The Lenox Hotel. Hotel availability is limited so guests are encouraged to make their reservations early. Individual tickets are available for $175 per person. Tables for 10 people are available for $1,400. Checks should be made payable to Friends of Copley Square, Post Office Box 170124, Boston, MA 02117-0084 or tickets can be purchased online by clicking here!
  • On Thursday, February 9th at 6:00 p.m., The Esplanade Association is hosting a public presentation on a new vision for the Esplanade's future in the Rabb Auditorium of the Boston Public Library.  The presentation will be moderated by Ted Landsmark, President of Boston Architectural College, and feature comments by Edward M. Lambert, Jr. Commissioner of Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation.  The plans promise to challenge our thinking about The Esplanade and its relationship to Storrow Drive, so this is of great interest to Back Bay businesses.
  • As you may know, there is currently a public process underway for the community to review development projects that have been proposed for Parcels 12,13,14, and 15 over the Massachusetts Turnpike.  On February 15th at 6:00 p.m. at St. Cecelias, the Citizens Advisory Committee (of which I am the cochair) will review projects submitted by four development teams. The meeting will be a great opportunity to review all four proposals that have been presented at one time, and hear how the CAC views each project.  This is very preliminary in the public process, but especially since this is a competitive process and some developers will be designated for parcels and others won't, this will be an interesting meeting to attend. For information about the Air Rights proposals for Parcels 12, 13, 14 and 15, click here.

Please feel free to email me or call me at 617-266-1991 should you require any further information.
